How did you get started with your music?
I started rapping when I was about 12 or 13 years old. However, I didn't start pursuing music seriously until High School when i was introduced to producer Kwame' a.k.a. K1 Mil by my friend Anthony, who had already been making music with him at the time. From there, I learned what it takes to make good records and have been chasing the dream of getting a deal ever since.
What are you currently working on?
I am constantly recording songs with Kwame' for a full length album, while also putting together material for a mixtape compilation including myself and other artists affiliated with Kwame' to be released in upcoming months.
What kind of music do you listen to and how does it influence your music?
I listen to everything. My playlist has everything from Jay-z to Led Zeppelin to Prince. I don't limit myself when it comes to music because i can see the genius in artists from all genres. I try and absorb elements from all the artists i love and incorporate them into my songs. I take pride in the fact that my songs are unique and don't necessarily sound like your run of the mill hip-hop records. However, at the end of the day hip-hop music is my passion and my records will always reflect that first.
What's your opinion on mainstream music today? What do you like or not like?
I like the mainstream scene today. I don't hate it like some people do. I just feel like people only tend to focus on the wack songs being made and don't acknowledge the good ones. But for every Kanye West, Pharrel, and Jay-z, there are other rappers making corny records that get shoved down our throats as Hip-Hop fans. It's almost like some labels/radio stations force feed the public music and dictate what's hot and what't not to a certain extent. I feel like because of that, some great Hip-Hop artists/ songs fall on deaf ears.
Who do you admire?
I admire anybody in the game who is true to themselves. People like Ludacris, Jay-Z, Pharrel, Lil' Wayne, Kanye, and Outkast. I love what Cee-lo and Dangermouse are doing with the Gnarls Barkley joints. I respect these people's creativity and ability to stand out as individuals from everybody else and not care what people think about them. And it just so happens that these people also make some of the best records out.
Why would people want to listen to your music over someone else's?
It's different. Simple and plain. People who are tired with today's monotony will love my shit. Me and Kwame' try to mix elements of all music we love and marry it with a hard hip-hop sound.
Who have you worked with and how have they affected your work?
For the past 5 years I've been working with producer Kwame' (LLoyd Banks "On Fire" Will Smith "Switch"), who is a pioneer in his own right. He taught me early on the keys to making good records and his experiences as a recording artist/ prpducer for the past 17 years has allowed him to share his knowledge of the rap game with me. In that time period I grew a lot as an artist and my work ethic has improved. I've learned to be a perfectionist.
What is your local music scene like?
I'm pretty much a novelty where I'm from. There's not a lot of Irish kids chasing the dream of being a rapper. But as far as my music goes, everybody respects and supports my movement in my hometown.
What suggestions do you have for other artists in the music industry?
Do it because you love it first. After that, the money will come.
Where do you see yourself in a year from now?
On your TV and Radio.
