NEWS: Cam’ron Earns Fifth Top 10 With Crime Pays |

The Billboard 200 is topped by punk band Green Day, but new releases from Cam’ron and Paul Wall were able to rank among this week’s top tier. After a lengthy hiatus, Dipset founder Cam’ron returns to the charts with his latest album, Crime Pays, opening at no. 3, selling 43,000. It’s Cam’s first charting since 2006, and his fifth top 10 album. Lady GaGa’s The Fame moved up two spots to no. 4 with 41,000 copies this week. Last week’s chart topper, Chrisette Michele, nose dived from the top spot to no. 8 this week with Epiphany, selling just 29,000 copies, after a her best week ever (83,000). Rick Ross’ Deeper Than Rap comes in at no. 9 this week, selling 26,000 copies, while Ciara’s Fantasy Ride fell to no. 19 with less than 26,000 copies in her second week. Outside the top 10, we have Paul Wall at no. 15 with his latest effort, Fast Life. The new album sold 22,000 copies. His last album, Get Money Stay True, debuted at no. 8 with 92,000 in 2007, while 2005’s The People’s Champ opened at no. 1 with 176,000 copies sold. Keri Hilson’s In A Perfect World… made its way back to the top 20, landing at no. 16 this week, selling another 20,900. After two months in stores, the singer’s debut has sold stands at 279,600 copies. ATL rapper Gucci Mane debuted at no. 23 this week with his new album, Murder Was The Case. After a week, the album has sold 17,100 copies. According to Billboard.com, overall album sales in this past chart week (ending May 17) totaled 5.82 million units, down 10.5% compared to the sum last week (6.51 million) and down 21.6% compared to the same sales week of 2008 (7.43 million). |
