It’s no surprise, Eminem has topped the Billboard 200 once again, as he returns from a nearly four-year absense with his new album Relapse. The new album took the no. 1 spot on the charts this week with 608,000 copies sold, giving it the biggest sales week of the year for any album.

Relapse is Em’s fifth straight no. 1. His only album to miss the top spot was his Slim Shady LP debut, which bowed and peaked at No. 2 in 1999.

His previous studio album was 2004’s Encore, which also landed at no. 1 with 711,000 copies sold. A year later, his greatest hits package Curtain Call took the spotlight with 441,000 in December 2005. Eminem has sold 34 million records, collectively, over his six solo album, making him the biggest selling hip-hop act in the SoundScan era (1991-present), reports Billboard.com.

Aside from Eminem, hip-hop duo Redman and Method Man also made their return to the charts with their new album, Blackout 2. The new album landed at no. 4 on the charts with 63,000 copies. They collaborated on the first Blackout! album in 1999, which debuted and peaked at no. 3 with 254,000.

After nearly three years, Busta Rhymes is back as well with Back On My B.S., which opens at no. 5 with 59,000 copies sold. His last set came in 2006 with The Big Bang, which landed at no. 1 with 209,000.

Later down the line at no. 8 is Lady Gaga’s Fame, raking in another 45,000 in record sales, while singer Chrisette Michele’s Epiphany falls 12 slots to no. 20 to round out the top tier with 21,200 copies sold.

According to Billboard.com, overall album sales in this past chart week (ending May 24) totaled 6.57 million units, up 12.9% compared to the sum last week (5.82 million) and down 8.8% compared to the same sales week of 2008 (7.21 million).
