NEWS: Houston Declares August 25th ‘Letoya Luckett Day’ |

It’s been years since she broke out as a founding member of Destiny’s Child. Today, her success as a solo artist have garnered accolades, including ones in her hometown. According to MyFox Houston, former Destiny’s Child member Letoya Luckett was recognized by the city of Houston on Tuesday (August 25) when city officials honored her by declaring the calendar date “Letoya Luckett Day.” This week, city councilman Ronald Green presented Luckett with a proclamation in front of Houston City Hall, announcing the honor. “GOD IS SOOOOO GOOD!!!!!! (SCREAMING),” the singer tweeted from her official Twitter page on Tuesday. The proclamation coincides with the release of Luckett’s second solo album, Lady Love, which also hit stores the same day. She is also celebrating the October release of the motion picture “Preacher’s Kid,” in which she stars, and “Five Killers,” in which she will appear with Ashton Kutcher and Katherine Heigl.
