Tell us about where you are from and how you got to this position today
I was born and raised in Baltimore City. I truly don’t have any other way to describe how I have gotten to where I am today other than work.
What are you currently working on and what can we expect to see?
Currently I am working with a few other artist to come out with two mixtapes to be released on “itunes” by early summer and also in 2011 people can expect to see a lot more performances and of course a lot more music.
What is one of the most drastic changes you’ve made about yourself in the last year?
I would say one of the biggest changes made was connecting with the online social networks, Before it was all just word of mouth but now using social networks like twitter, myspace, and face book, there has been a huge change in the amount of feedback and also a be change in the amount of people that are able to here my music.
Tell us about one of the hardest challenges you had to face in the industry?
I think one of the hardest things that I’ve had to face and that I think that I am still facing is promotion. A lot of people don’t realize how hard it is to actually get people to take a few seconds to sit and listen to your product, An unless you stay persistent about putting your stuff out there and working hard yourself to be heard then your chances are close to 1 % if not 0 of getting an audience. What you put out is what you get back.
What was one of the biggest set backs in your career and how did you bounce back?
One of the biggest set backs that I have had to face so far in my career so far was the lost of every single piece of music that I ever made at one point in time. A few years back while I was actually in the middle of making a new song the power surged out. When the power went out it shut down everything with it of course and the main computer that I used had its hard drive whipped clean so that was done. It took me sometime to get back to where I was and I gotten a lot better equipment since then the only difference now is I use surge protectors on everything.
What are some things artists need to be careful of?
I think a lot of artist need to be careful and watch out for all of those false opportunities that are out there. There is always somebody out there looking to take advantage of somebody eagerness to get success that they take advantage of it, So I say that would be the biggest thing to be careful of. Another thing to be careful of is the people that you surround your self with. If people aren’t trying to go in the same direction you are or aren’t trying to help you to get there then its time to switch up your circle.
What would you spend a million dollars on?
I would spend a million on any thing that would help turn it in to more. Why settle for the minimum.
What was your biggest risk taken in your career?
I would say the biggest risk that I think I have taken so far was changing the entire way I operate. I use to stay with my own group of people and I was never willing to bring in or work with new people but once I realized that there’s a lot that can be gained from that, It then just became apart of my normal routine.
What suggestions do you have for other artists like yourself?
The only suggestion I would give would be to stay focused on your main goal, There’s always going to be issues but your just going to have to learn how to make everything work to make it to where you want to go in life.
What are the best ways to sell your products as an artist?
In my opinion the best way now is through the internet, the internet is the best because people get to hear and see your music and if they want to hear your album or they just want whatever the product might be, they have the opportunity to buy it right on the spot instead of going out and having to search for it. It saves the people time and helps you as well.
What is one of your favorite ways to promote yourself and your music?
Again the internet, you get to broadcast to a lot of people in a very fast time and it helps a lot. But as much as I like using the internet for promotion I still think that actually putting yourself out there is still a good way because its more of a connection if someone gets to see the full product instead of some pictures somewhere.
