How did you come up with the name ?
– The term ghostmaker is used as slang for guns and other things that can kill you on the streets so I thought it would be a perfect name for a line. It also gives me the opportunity to use ghosts all the time which I’m into.
Description of clothing line ?
– Ghostmaker Clothing is influenced by mainly music, street culture, my hometown and video games. I create clothing for a wide variety of people. From type focused shirts that make bold statements to graphic designs filled with tons of colors. My graphic tees are hand drawn by the best up and coming artists around portraying anything from hip hop ghosts to comical cereal boxes on high quality shirts.
Who are your influences ?
– I don’t think certain people really influence me when I create apparel for the brand, Life and the things I said above influence me a lot more. Brands that influence me with what I would like to accomplish as a business would have to be brands like Benny Gold, The Hundreds and others that started small and are now doing big things with their clothes being sold in stores everywhere and having their own stores. People in the clothing line world like Johnny Cupcakes who are the friendliest down to earth people with their customers also really make an impact on me and everyone should take notes!
What sets your brand different from others ?
– I think my shirts are unique, I always try to put out graphic tees with ideas that no one else is doing. There are a lot of brands that just copy others that are doing well. Everyone should do their own thing and put out whatever interests them. I use a lot of different color shirts that most companies don’t use. A lot of companies like to stick to black/white and I’m definitely feeling the purples lately ha ha. Ghostmaker can appeal to people that love street wear but at the same time appeal to hardcore and metal kids.
Are there any challenges you run into while running a business ?
– Of course, I think every business has challenges they have to overcome. If it was easy everyone would be doing it. I think having a clothing line right now is especially difficult due to the fact there is a lot of people out there on the internet who get two shirts printed and just spam everyone to sell them. So there a million shirts out there to buy and is everyone is trying to get by in these rough times so every time someone buys one of mine it really blows my mind. I had an order for someone in Switzerland one time and it’s crazy to think someone is running around Switzerland wearing a Ghostmaker shirt. Crazy! I think besides that the biggest challenge is just money, balancing personal bills with building the brand. I have no financial help so I had to build my brand from nothing, so I need to make sure I can still pay the rent!
Any plans for the future with your clothing line ?
– Of course, almost too many to list. Right now I have really been pushing the online selling side of things but I want to expand more into getting my clothes into different stores across the country now. Farther down the line I want to create more unique items like watches, shoes and hats. If it all goes well maybe even a flagship store and some cologne to smell fresh! Get into !!
