How did you come up with the name?
My designs came first, I focused on clean designs, but I always ended up putting something a little sketchy in them – and if you don’t see it at first look again. Next came “fresh” which is a word I have always been enamored with and is still to this day the best word to tag on a wall. So it was a marriage made in heaven for me, “Sketchy Fresh.”

Description of clothing line?
Besides the word “fresh,” the designs are meant to have your mom say “cute” then do a double take and say, “you really shouldn’t be wearing that;” which means you should.

Who or what are your influences?
One of my big inspirations is Stussy, I love their designs and how they have always stayed cool to me for the last 10 years. Another huge influence is the skateboarding industry. There are too many brands to name them all, but brands like Plan B, FUCT, Alien Workshop, and not to forget my all time favorite Powell Peralta.

What sets your brand different from others?
We go against the norm, you will not see any crosses, skulls, and swords littered all over our shirts. Our shirts are original, fun, and put a smile on your face. In addition to style, it was important to us to put out a 100% American made product – our shirts are 100% designed, printed, and sewn in America.

Are there any challenges you run into while running a business?
Time, I wish the day was made up of more minutes.

Any plans for the future with your clothing line?
Yes, the goal is to be able to sponsor. It would be great to sponsor kids in alternative sports like skateboarding and snowboarding. I would love to see a Sketchy Fresh team at the X Games one day.
