How did you come up with the name?
While touring the U.S. as “JUNKIE” on the Vans warped tour we became inspired by eclectic, vintage, punk neighborhoods such as Haight-Ashbury in San Francisco, Deep Ellum in Dallas, Little Five Points in Atlanta and South Street in Philly. This inspiration helped TRASH evolve into T.R.A.S.H: “Taking Recycled Apparel Selling to Help,” and we officially joined the recycling movement.
Description of clothing line?
T.R.A.S.H: “Taking Recycled Apparel Selling to Help.” Our designs are printed on eco-friendly material and the majority of them are recycled clothing and accessories. We search and hand select items in military, thrift and vintage shops, then alter them if need be to make them one of a kind. We seek to promote awareness for living green and saving money by purchasing recycled clothing. Rock ‘n roll inspired recycled clothing can still be cool! We make our hang tags and ship products with whatever’s in the recycle bin. Your purchased item will almost always will show up in a cereal box. And in turn, we hope you recycle the box and become an advocate in saving our planet!
Who or what are your influences?
Alex Bougusky, former ad-man turned consumer activist. www.fearlessrevolution.com
What sets your brand different from others?
Aside from promoting our original clothing designs via social media, we promote “green” lifestyles by featuring “green” articles, products and recipes! We also volunteer and donate to animal and saving the planet charities. Follow us! twitter.com/#!/trashclothing and www.facebook.com/pages/Trash-Clothing-Company-LLC/120949191312434
Are there any challenges you run into while running a business?
My computer is awful. I do everything virtually and it constantly shuts down on me. It shut down during this questionnaire and I had to start over again! Ahhh.
Any plans for the future with your clothing line?
Today we continue to dress musicians, pro skateboarders, and their fans. Our ever-changing apparel selection is found on our virtual stores and our first boutique is set to open in 2013.
