Check out the new song from FastMoney Mike – FastMoney Anthem
Tell us about where you are from and how you got to this position today.
I’m from the south-side of Chicago, from a neighborhood known as Killaward. I been rapping since I was seven years old and I have been making small steps to get to this point where I am today. I started off as a heavy battle rapper, but I soon developed a love for freestyling. I’m now at the point where I can write a song or freestyle and the song would still be fire!
Tell us more about the current song you are promoting to everyone.
The song I’m promoting is FastMoney Anthem. Its is my way to let Chicago artists, as well as, the music industry as a whole, know I’m coming to claim my fortune and fame in the music world. I actually thought of the song and concept with my sisters KY and JU after our psychology class at NIU. I asked for they’re opinion and they said it was hot, so I went with it and here we are at this interview.
Tell us about one of the hardest challenges you had to face in the industry?
The hardest challenge I have had to face in the industry is actually two things. First thing is the money that is spent and you will need to succeed. I have had some down moments that have put my music career on a halt, but right now I’m making power moves and getting recognized for it. The second challenge is everybody wants to be a rapper. That makes my job that much harder, but I will make it; its in my heart to succeed within this music industry.
What was one of the biggest set backs in your career and how did you bounce back?
The biggest setback that I had was when my friend was locked up in Cook County Jail. We had a possible interview with Aftermath records, but we never received any further word because our group disbanded for personal reasons. That group I was with then was known as SIRS. It was a funny name, but We were working hard at the time.
What are some things artists need to be careful of?
Be careful of who you associate yourself with. People will pull you down just because they don’t want to see you succeed. Others will stay around because they know you will be successful and want a piece of what you have. Build a team that is committed to the same goals you are and based it upon success, hard work, respect, and loyalty.
What suggestions do you have for other artists like yourself?
Only the real will make it in this industry Be yourself. If this is truly your dream, give it your all. I guarantee you will see the success you always wanted in the end.
What is one of your favorite ways to promote yourself and your music?
I use YouTube and Twitter and Facebook here and there. I’m putting together a team to help get my music across to the masses and I’m putting myself as the main source of promotion. The main reason is because no one knows how to promote you like yourself. Give the people what they want and have fun doing it.
