Exclusive Interview
Tell us about where you are from and how you got to this position today.
A lot of hard work and respect for music got me to understand who I was and my dedication helped give me opportunities to grow with my music. It takes a lot of your time, but the way I see it, as long as you harness your passion and control your focus, true dedication can take you anywhere. I was born and raised in Michigan and am thankful for all my accomplishments.
Tell us more about the current song you are promoting to everyone.
I’m here promoting myself as an artist with one of my favorite songs titled “Top Spot.” In this song I am explaining to everyone the reason I am able to be here today is because of everything that I have gone through. When you can finally reach the high point in life and you have an understanding of what it takes to get there, then you have taken control.
Tell us about one of the hardest challenges you had to face in the industry?
As any artist knows, in order to succeed, you need to be able to learn from mistakes and take criticism and use it to push you forward. It takes a strong mind and passion to be able to look at your music from another person’s perspective.
What was one of the biggest set backs in your career and how did you bounce back?
I had to deal with some people trying to help me out by promoting and giving me good studio deals, but in time the vibes didn’t match. I had to find another studio to go to that I trusted. I am lucky to have found a studio that treats me like family and has the same understanding of music.
What are some things artists need to be careful of?
The one thing I always stress to my friends who are up and coming artists, is make sure everything is yours. Make sure your lyrics are original and that your songs have meaning to you as well as the beats. I also make sure the people I meet along the way understand the importance of contracts being correct and everything stays professional.
What suggestions do you have for other artists like yourself?
I tell other artists to keep on investing in anything that you want pursue and take advantage of every opportunity, but keep the vibes and build respect. Trust me it goes a long way.
What is one of your favorite ways to promote yourself and your music?
I really like Twitter and YouTube because the worldwide audience that it reaches out to and it gets to my worldwide audience quickly. I also love Reverbnation because it reaches out to not only the worldwide public, but also to a lot of local and similar artists. Reverbnation also gives you a chance to get features with others artists as well.
