Exclusive Interview

Tell us about where you are from and how you got to this position today.
I’m originally from Baton Rouge, LA and now residing in Atlanta, GA. I’ve reached this point strictly from hard work, dedication, and the grace of God. Being consistent with all three helped me continue to progress nonstop.

Tell us more about the current song you are promoting to everyone.
“Momma Prayed” is a heartfelt song I know many people can relate to. It tells a story of how a child growing up doesn’t have the wisdom to really control their own fate and even once they do they continue to make the wrong decisions. Many of the positive things that come to us are the result of our parents’ prayers and that’s the message I get across in this song.

Tell us about one of the hardest challenges you had to face in the industry?
It’s all been pretty tough just as everything else is. The hardest challenge to me is self. The challenge is how fast can self adapt to the field of interest. How well can self maneuver amongst snakes? How many risks are you willing to take? All this determines how far you go and how fast you make it there.

What was one of the biggest set backs in your career and how did you bounce back?
Besides a single or full project being released and not performing as well as I projected or not winning a showcase I may have entered, I’ve been blessed enough to not have any major setbacks. No matter what happens when something is in you it’s in you, so you always find some way to bounce back!

What are some things artists need to be careful of?
Your immediate circle. Some circles have yes men and others have haters who find error in everything. Find out who’s really on your side and who’s against you. Even analyze the person you pull sheets with. And your family too!

What suggestions do you have for other artists like yourself?
Find out whether this is your true passion or not. You can avoid much pain and heartache by knowing what you really should pursue.

What is one of your favorite ways to promote yourself and your music?
I like doing email blasts and texting.

Where can people visit you?
Thirty86.com. I have a side banner that links to all of my current music!
