Exclusive Interview

Tell us about where you are from and how you got to this position today.
I born and raised in Texas and have lived here my entire life with the exception of a few military stints. I’ve always had a love for music but always hip hop. I really didn’t get into rap until I was in my late teenage years. I always wanted to be a producer; however, all the software and hardware was getting expensive. Not long after realizing I was going to have to quit producing, I developed a love for writing and recording. Around that same time I underwent a transformation personally. I had been in and out of the county repeatedly for four or five years and was tired of feeling I wasn’t progressing. I decided that I would heed to the teaching of the Christ. I sat with a prolific man who taught me the sayings of the Galilean. From that day on I began to intertwine my life’s occurrences with scripture. The message accompanied with my raspy delivery caught on quickly and I’ve been pushin’ ever since.

Tell us more about the current song you are promoting to everyone.
Killin’ Em is a special song to me. I wrote this song because I wanted to depict the struggle between the flesh and spirit; the disconnect between who I am and who I really would like to be. Killin’ Em’ is more so speaking on a physiological transformation in which the mind over powers doubt and insecurity. In the video I am being followed and at one point pursued heavily by my fears and doubts. This song has that real southern delivery with an east coast cadence. It’s a special record in that it gives so much of who I am in each verse.

What are you currently working on and what can we expect to see?
I am releasing a new video for a new record entitled “Maverick.” The video is set to drop any day now. Maverick is an uptempo anthem style track. It’s more chanty that most of my records which I would normally lace with deep lyricism. I am also currently finalizing a mixtape. It will more than likely drop within a month or so.

Tell us about one of the hardest challenges you had to face in the industry?
The hardest challenge in the industry for me has been learning the business. I am starting to understand who my audience is. I am also learning how to take advantage of every opportunity.

What was one of the biggest set backs in your career and how did you bounce back?
I have yet to experience any major set backs. I would only identify that I wanted to be further along in terms of my influence and notoriety, but those things will come with more hard work.

What are some things artists need to be careful of?
I would say artists need to be mindful of who they are and be cautious not to dilute their message.

What suggestions do you have for other artists like yourself?
Work hard. Work harder than everybody around you.

What are the best ways to sell your products as an artist?
I utilize any digital site to sell my products, iTtunes, Pandora, etc.

What is one of your favorite ways to promote yourself and your music?
My number one way is word of mouth. I love face to face with music lovers about how they have been influenced by myself or other artists. Videos are also a way I like to promote. People love to see how you look in comparison to what they’re hearing.
