Exclusive Interview

Tell us about where you are from and how you got to this position today?
I was born in Seattle Washington and raised in Minneapolis, Mn. I got in this position today by following my dreams and being persistant and not giving up on my goal.

What are you currently working on and what can we expect to see?
Right now I am working on my 3rd album but first album that is actually going out to the world it is titled Statement. Release date will be either Winter of 2011 or January 2012.

Tell us about one of the hardest challenges you had to face in the industry?
The hardest challenge is getting out there and getting heard, This goes for being different I ma not your typical R&B artist and I tend to go against the status quo and prefer to stick to my roots. Also being patient for things to come my way is hard as well.

What was one of the biggest set backs in your career and how did you bounce back?
One of the biggest setback in my career was joining a group a few years ago that featured a horrible manager who by the way was younger than me and three talented rappers. We tried to gel but things just didn’t workout. Giving money to people that I shouldn’t have  who said they can take me to the next level was a mistake of mine as well.  I rised above those challeneges by learning from my mistakes.

What are some things artists need to be careful of?
Artist need to be careful with who they associate themselves with and who they bring around in their inner cirlce.  They also need to be careful of legal documents you don’t want to sign the wrong thing,

What suggestions do you have for other artists like yourself?
Stay postive motivated and focused. It is a long journey and nothing happens overnight.

What are the best ways to sell your products as an artist?
Door to door at venues, clubs, open mics, online Itunes Amazon etc get out there.

What is one of your favorite ways to promote yourself and your music?
One of my favorite ways is personally putting it out there going out into the street and talking with people. Adding the personal touch can go along way.  If people say no oh well I keep on going.

Where can people visit you?
People can go to kovanmusic@gmail..com or go to kovanoffical.com and write on my site there as well blog or post. Twitter.com/kbmusic3/
