Check out the new song from Q Dot Davis – They Thirsty
Tell us about where you are from and how you got to this position today.
I am from Birmingham, AL. I got to where I am today by putting God first, avoiding negativity, and staying consistent. I have been blessed with a couple key concert openings that boosted my popularity as an artist, like the Respect My Hustle Tour with Cash Money/We The Best artist, Ace Hood, and The Independent Powerhouse Tour With Strange Music’s Tech N9ne, Rittz, and other Strange Music artists. I was a special guest in my hometown for both those shows and the sold out crowds showed me major love and have been continuing to support me! #thank you
Tell us more about the current song you are promoting to everyone.
My song They Thirsty was produced by @Akizzlebeats, better known as Kevin Lucas. It is a song that takes the urban saying of someone being “thirsty,” as in wanting something/someone so bad and showing it, and spins it to make a catchy hit that describes everything from girls to aspiring competing rappers being envious. Envious of the “codes to the game” I am unlocking and my overall success. It’s not targeted at anyone when written or released. “But if the shoe fits, wear it.” They thirsty!
Tell us about one of the hardest challenges you had to face in the industry?
My biggest challenge has been finding a trusting team of individuals to share my vision with and ride this wave of upward success I am currently on. I cut a lot of dead weight from when I started in 2009 to now and made a lot of decisions without knowing the outcome that have positively paid off!
I think I have found an elite core of alliances this time and it all feels right! 2014 is gonna be a huge year. My actual blood cousin and label mate, Ivprofen, my long time friend and label mate, Benjamin Jonez, and my partner I met through Stuey Rock a couple years back, Nard Gudda, are my other brains behind my operation. You will hear so much more about us all as you stay tuned in this independent music game.
I have also formed an alliance with New Orleans based artist Pell and have been a special guest on two if his tours. Four hashmarks you need to always pay attention to are: #loe, #royalsouthmusic, #squidmob, #tfg. End of story. Shout out to #1018, they know who they are!
What was one of the biggest set backs in your career and how did you bounce back?
My biggest set back has to be just everyday drama with life and crooked relationships. Basically, fakes and snakes. I simply made my circle “tighter than a cheerio” and grinded right through the negative vibes. #resilient
What are some things artists need to be careful of?
Who they surround themselves with and trust. This industry is a dirty game. You have to stay on your toes and stay prayed up about everything.
What suggestions do you have for other artists like yourself?
Never give up on your dreams and if you can envision your dreams really coming true, dream bigger!
What is one of your favorite ways to promote yourself and your music?
I am CEO/COO of my own promotions company, Q Dot Davis Promotions and Entertainment. I do all my own promotions and also do promotions for my label mates; other aspiring artist; and Royal South Music, Loyalty Over Everything, and Squibmob.
If any artists need promo, I have packages for every budget. Email me directly at firstname.lastname@example.org. I also talk to everyone I meet about myself and my music, and my fan base just keeps growing.
