Tell us about where you are from and how you got to this position today.
The RNDepartment is a hip hop group out of Dallas, Texas. The group consists of Chance, Two Fame, XO, and RC Beats. Their music began in the suburb of Flower Mound but quickly spread into the metroplex. Currently, The RNDepartment is having their music played world wide including Canada, Brazil, China, England, Spain, and more. The RND has a goal to never stop improving and strive every day to become better than the day before.

Tell us more about the current song you are promoting to everyone.
The RNDepartment’s song, “Placebo,” is a unique blend of hip hop. The beat is produced by Delano Taylor and combines the use of a melodic bass line with harmonic horns. Chance starts the song with a stylized flow that draws the listener in and crescendos into the heart of the song. The overall message of the song is to stay true to your self and to not care so much about what others think. Just be you.

Tell us about one of the hardest challenges you had to face in the industry?
The hardest challenge The RND has faced in the music industry thus far is the way they are treated. Chance recalls, “Trying to rap in a town like Flower Mound is almost impossible. The people are stuck up and unwilling to accept new ideas. I just can’t wait for the day when I can look back and say, I told you so.” The RND has also faced adversity when it comes to their age. The oldest member being only 17, many “adults” in the music industry have refused to take the group seriously. Through the challenges has come triumph; however, as the group continues to expand and make progress.

What was one of the biggest set backs in your career and how did you bounce back?
The biggest set back in The RND’s career was when their opportunity to open for Big Sean was stripped. “We entered a contest where the winner got to open for Big Sean in Dallas.” Two Fame states. “We didn’t expect to do that well, but after all our hard work, we ended up winning! It was the most surreal feeling in the world. Finally people were giving us a chance. However, several hours later we came to find out that we were disqualified from the contest based on accusations of cheating from the second place contestant. Without being given a chance to explain, our opportunity was stripped away. That was one of the hardest moments I’ve faced.” Although the group missed out on opening for Big Sean, they bounced back from the downfall and have booked more shows than ever.

What are some things artists need to be careful of?
“Too often in this industry artists do things for the wrong reasons. If you love music, make music. If you love money, make money. But if you love money, don’t make music. I’m tired of everyone trying to rap to make money and losing sight of what’s truly important, the message.”-XO

What suggestions do you have for other artists like yourself?
“I’d say the best advice I could give anyone who wants to be like us is to be true to yourself. Never settle for anything less than perfect and never do something you don’t want to do. If someone doesn’t like you, that’s fine. If you stay true to yourself and work hard, you can make a difference in someone’s life. And that’s what is truly important.” Says RC Beats

What is one of your favorite ways to promote yourself and your music?
The RNDepartment has a variety of ways to promote themselves. While many new artists prefer to use the internet to promote, The RND tends to have fun with traditional ways of promotion. There have been several occasions where the group has gotten in trouble at school for hanging posters or handing out fliers. The group says the most fun thing to do however is to make videos to promote.
