Check out the new song from Young Invent – Mucho Fuego
Tell us about where you are from and how you got to this position today.
I was born in Inglewood, CA and raised in Compton, but I have family all over Cali; so I rep all of Cali from San Diego to The Bay. I got where I am now due to constant hard work and dedication. My fans drive me as well. I call them my inventors. I believe I’m nothing without them.
Tell us more about the current song you are promoting to everyone.
“Mucho Fuego” is my next single. I’ve been going hard on promoting it everywhere. The song expresses my love for the Latin community. My step-pops is from Honduras, so I feel a part of the culture inside me. Also, my brother (Eddie Clocker) is half Puerto Rican, so I go hard for my people.
Tell us about one of the hardest challenges you had to face in the industry?
Trusting others with your career. When you find good management you have to allow them to do their job.
What was one of the biggest set backs in your career and how did you bounce back?
My biggest set back was the waiting and time it took to finish my first two singles, “Club City” & “Mucho Fuego.” They were set to launch in 2010/2011, but never did. I have also lost a lot of team members since then, but it allowed me to see who was really on the team and in my corner. Now I’m finally releasing “Mucho Fuego” on Cinco De Mayo 2012!
What are some things artists need to be careful of?
Being taking advantage of and not asking the right questions. A lot of new artists go off of what people say instead of getting the important things in writing.
What suggestions do you have for other artists like yourself?
Look at yourself as a product and not as a person. The minute you understand your music is a business you will treat yourself as a business.
What is one of your favorite ways to promote yourself and your music?
I enjoy being on stage. To me nothing is better than being able to interact with your fans and watch their faces light up when you put on a great show. Word of mouth has always been good for business.
